Ailment Service

We offer support for many minor health problems ordinarily taken to GPs to ease pressure on them.

These services are available to (but not limited to) those:

  • Aged under 16
  • Aged 19 or under in full-time education
  • Aged 60 and over
  • In possession of a prescription prepayment certificate (PPC), or other such medical exemption certification
  • With certain benefits - income support, jobseeker’s allowance, universal credit

The following are examples of services offered ( these vary by location and types of condition):

  • Backache
  • Limb Sprains
  • Sore Throat
  • Headache
  • Indigestion and Heartburn
  • Constipation
  • Coughs
  • Fever
  • Fungal infections on the skin - e.g. verruca and warts
  • Diarrhoea
  • Earache

Our pharmacists can help to identify, diagnose and offer treatment advice for many such minor ailments. This helps to take the strain away from GPs who are swamped with more serious issues.
